Scholz‘ Antrittsbesuch in den USA ist heikel. Zur Vorbereitung hat sich der Kanzler deshalb einen Englisch-Crashkurs von Annalena Baerbock geben lassen. Diese Sätze hat er für das Gespräch mit Biden auswendig gelernt:

  • „Wirecard? Never heard of it. My English vocabulary is not very big, sorry!“
  • „No, Merkel is not coming. I’m the new german dude now.“
  • „Scholz. No, Scholz. S – c – h – o – l – z! What do you mean, you never heard that name?“
  • „You look very old today, Joe. Forgive me for saying so, but this is my Hanseatic matter-of-factness, old chap.“
  • „Believe me: I am very embarrassed about Gerd. I’ve already sent him a beer case. Normally, that shuts him up.“
  • „It should be called ‚North Stream‘ or ‚Nord Strom‘, but not ‚Nord Stream‘. It’s not logical!“
  • „I know, you think it’s funny, but please: Stop calling me mein Führer.“
  • „I already told you: Merkel is gone, I’m the new german dude now!“
